Megasat tests the reception range of its products on a test drive through Italy.

Niederlauer. Following the successful Norkap tour in 2016, Megasat once again tested the capabilities of its satellite antennas. This time, the goal was to thoroughly test the fully automated antennas, check the reception ranges on-site, and, if necessary, improve them with software adjustments.

On board the test vehicle were seven antennas, including two prototypes that will go on sale in early 2019, and Sven Melzer, founder and CEO of Megasat. "When I was a little boy, my aunt bought an Italian sports car and drove from Germany to Sicily and back in a four-week trip. She brought back many experiences that impressed me. Back then, I decided to follow her example one day. It's never too late to fulfill your dreams, even if more than 40 years have passed."

Best reception with Megasat satellite systems
Instead of a sports car, the test crew led by company boss Melzer used the company's own camper van, which offered ample space for the technology and other equipment. The conclusion of the nearly two-week tour: Mobile TV in Italy is possible with almost any Megasat antenna. Only in the south of Italy do some reach their limits. Since the satellite's footprint becomes weaker the further you get from Central Europe, reception performance continues to deteriorate. If adverse weather conditions are also present, a large dish like the one on the Caravanman 85 Professional GPS is the first choice.

All tested satellite systems showed an uninterrupted signal up to and including Rome. Therefore, anyone who enjoys vacationing in Italy's capital will be well served with any Megasat antenna. Further south, the models Campingman Kompakt, the prototype Traveller-Man, or the flagship Caravanman 85 are ideal. Whether in Sicily or Portugal, reception is guaranteed with these antennas in the peripheral areas of the satellite.
