Niederlauer. At this year's Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf (4 - 13 September 2020), Megasat, one of the leading manufacturers of satellite technology and accessories in Germany and Europe, will present the next generation of its SAT antenna models. Technical highlight: The control units are equipped with a Bluetooth module, so that the devices can be connected and controlled with the user's smartphone or tablet. "We have repeatedly received requests from campers to equip the control units with a remote control because many of them do not place the devices visibly in the vehicle. Since almost everyone now owns a smartphone or tablet, it was obvious to enable remote control via a Bluetooth interface," explains Harald Langer, Sales Manager Camping at Megasat.

In the future, campers will be able to direct their antenna to the desired satellite via smartphone or tablet, Megasat has developed an app for iOS and Android for this purpose. But not only the antenna control is app-controlled, Firmwareupdates can also be easily uploaded. Whereas a computer and a USB stick were previously required for this purpose, in future a command via the app will be sufficient.

Initially, four antenna models will receive the new control units with BluetoothÒ module: the Campingman Kompakt 3, the Caravanman Kompakt 3 (both also available as Twin-Version for two participants), the Campingman Portable 3 as well as the Traveller-Man 3. Furthermore, there are further innovations: The Campingman Kompakt 3 gets a larger antenna dish one for improved reception quality. Megasat has also changed the construction of the base plate for the 3 and Traveller-Man 3 modelsCaravanman Kompakt , so that a new mobile kit will be available for these antennas. This means that both antennas will continue to be available for both fixed installation on the vehicle and for mobile use.

The market launch of the new antennas will take place from January 2021; Megasat is not yet quoting prices.
